Can I Restore Watch Shine? Anyone Can!

Restore Watch Shine

Over time your stainless steel bracelet on your dive watch is eventually going to dull. Dents, Dings, sweat, there’s all sorts of buildup that can really start to take away from your watch. Thankfully there are a bunch of products that can remove that tarnish and really clean it up. I detailed some of the experience I’ve had trying to keep my Dive watch looking crisp.

Polishing Cloth

These are great to keep in a drawer at your office or home. I like to grab one and remove my watch and give it a nice clean up. You would be surprised at the buildup over time.  I like the Sabrina Silver polishing cloth because its priced right and actually lasts a long time. It does get a little bit dirty but that actually helps it to polish. Don’t try to wash the cloth, let it work its magic.

UltraSonic Cleaner

For those really tough to hit areas. The spots inbetween watch links can be a real pain to get to, and they are prone to bacteria growth and discoloration. Thankfully Ultrasonic cleaners have drastically come down in price and aren’t much more than your standard Rice Cooker. I like the Magnasonic Professional Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner. Its great because I can throw a watch bracelet in there, as well as any other jewelery that has hard to reach spots no it. The ultrasonic cleaning action breaks apart tarnish and dirt without having to apply harmful chemicals. #green

Silver Creams

This category is a bit of a double duty. Creams are great but still need to be applied with some kind of cloth. Thankfully the good folks at Weiman decided to kill two birds with one stone by applying their cleaner to pre-moistened wipes. The Weiman Silver Wipes are perfect for that all in one solution. Wright’s Silver Cream Polish will also get the job done if you have some microfiber cloths laying around.

Recommendation

The Ultrasonic cleaner takes the cake. It is already super affordable and comes in a small form factor. Whats not to love about that? It can be used for all sorts of things besides watch bracelets, like silverware, jewelry, rings, necklaces. The motion of the water may look mild, but it’s actually producing a deep and thorough clean to penetrate the most difficult areas. 42,000 Hz of ultrasonic energy waves create millions of microscopic cleansing bubbles that gently lift dirt and grime away without using harsh chemicals or scrubbing.
